A lot of people are into Fantasy Football but I don’t really get the appeal. I have no interest in watching a bunch of grown men run around and tackle each other. Most of the men are in really good shape and their muscles bulge through those little spandex they wear. Sometimes they all pile on top of each other and pinch each other in funny places. I have no interest in that.
My interests lie in academics and politics. This is why I participate in a Fantasy Book League with myself lots of like minded friends and colleagues.
This week things got VERY EXCITING as Jan Brewer’s book “Scorpions for Breakfast: My Fight Against Special Interests, Liberal Media, and Cynical Politicos to Secure America’s Border” went from unranked to number 8 on the Amazon Bestseller list. Wow!
Where did this book come from? It was like the DeMarco Murray of books for the 2011 Fantasy Season. It just appeared on the bestseller list 2 days ago but it came out in November. What happened 2 days ago?
Oh yeah…2 days ago Brewer met President Obama on the tarmac in Arizona and threw a bit of a tantrum respectfully greeted the president. It’s not what you think though! Here’s what really went down:
Jan, I didn’t like how you characterized our conversation in your book.
My book? You mean Scorpions for Breakfast: My Fight Against Special Interests, Liberal Media, and Cynical Politicos to Secure America’s Border, available on Amazon.com and in bookstores nationwide?
Yes Jan, that book.
Well, my book, Scorpions for Breakfast: My Fight Against Special Interests, Liberal Media, and Cynical Politicos to Secure America’s Border, available on Amazon.com and in bookstores nationwide is one thing, but have you read “The Hunger Games?”
No Jan, I think my daughters might have…
(Pointing finger angrily) Well you need to read that book Mr. President! It is fantastic!
The Hunger Games! That’s all this was about! It’s funny too, because even though Brewer’s book has shot up the charts, it still hasn’t overtaken “The Hunger Games” series:
It’s nice that Brewer is getting finally getting some national recognition for her work. A year ago she showed political courage when she signed into law a controversial immigration bill:

I personally don’t have a problem with the bill, but some in liberal media elite seem to have a problem with the following provision:
Each year, a boy and girl from each of 12 districts in Mexico will be chosen as tributes as retribution for the Mexican American war of 1846. The tributes will be placed in an arena near the Arizona border where they will fight to the death. The last remaining tribute will be allowed to enter the US as a citizen. Happy Hunger Games! And may the odds be ever in your favor!
